Database Administrator Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of our existing database infrastructure, including schema, data types, indexes, and dependencies, to develop a thorough understanding of the migration requirements.
• Migration Strategy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a detailed migration strategy that minimizes downtime, ensures data integrity, and maximizes performance during the transition period.
• Data Mapping and Transformation: Analyze data structures and formats to create mapping rules for transforming data from the source to the target database. Implement data cleansing and validation procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency post-migration.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance optimization techniques to streamline the migration process and enhance database efficiency both pre and post-migration.
• Documentation and Reporting: Document all aspects of the migration process, including methodologies, configurations, and procedures, to ensure knowledge transfer and maintain audit trails for compliance purposes. Generate regular progress reports and communicate updates to stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Post-Migration Support: Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance following the completion of the migration to address any issues or performance bottlenecks that may arise in the new database environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Proven experience (X years) as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on database migration projects, preferably in environments with large datasets (>3TB).
• In-depth knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, including proficiency in SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and develop innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•  Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including proficiency in deploying and managing databases on GCP services such as Google Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and AlloyDB
